Coaching has become one of the buzz words of this decade. Research has shown that coaching is a very important tool for creating sustained change. Schools have looked to coaching as a way of creating sustainable change in classroom instruction, leading to improvement in student achievement. In this rapid movement to add coaches to schools, many coaches have been placed in coaching positions without proper training or the necessary support. Without these two necessary structures, coaches are being set up for failure. The purpose of this network is two-fold. First, it will provide a professional and collegial support network for instructional coaches at all levels. This will allow coaches to build relationships with other coaches and share expertise and practice. Second, it will help coaches build a framework for their practice and provide strategies and training to help coaches be successful in their position. This network features strategies and research from the Kansas Coaching Project and Jim Knight. This network will be facilitated by Dr. Deb Kneser. Deb completed her dissertation on Instructional Coaching. and is an expert in the field. Each half day session is followed with a light lunch and an opportunity to network with peers
