As the charter school movement continues to grow, and funding expands exponentially, expert guidance and support are essential to ensuring the development and sustainability of high-quality and truly innovative charter schools throughout our region. Many schools would like to begin to percolate the ideas of opening a charter school, but do not know where to begin. CESA 6 Charter School Planning and Support can help districts create a successful school.
CESA 6 provides the following services to help your charter school development team conceptualize and author a high-quality, academic program:
- Facilitation of the visioning process, including the development of a mission statement and academic program philosophy
- Identification and authoring of key components of the academic program
- Creation and implementation of charter school development timelines
- Identifying and solidifying necessary partnerships
Charter School Planning will be facilitated during three full work days. Teams will have facilitated work time to create their vision of a high quality, rigorous charter school. A CESA 6 expert can provide customized in-district support to continue the work to develop a strong charter school. In-district support will be customized to meet the needs of individual schools and may include the following services:
- Data collection prior to grant application
- Community partnership planning
- Set-up and facilitation of required parent meetings
- Organization of governing board
- Writing of charter contract prior to legal review
