Job Description:
CESA 6 is seeking to employ a full-time Literacy Center Coordinator to support Title I services and other literacy initiatives promoted through the CESA 6 Literacy Center.

In working with regional school districts to support Literacy Center initiatives, the responsibilities of this position may include the following:

  • Coordinate the regional Title I Quality Program Support consortium services network;
  • Co-coordinate the statewide Title I grant for CESA 6;
  • Design, develop and support districts' implementations of literacy tools that support teachers in their delivery of literacy across the content areas, aligned to the Common Core State Standards and within balanced literacy frameworks;
  • Support the implementation of literacy initiatives through demonstration lessons, simulations, workshop models, and literacy coaching;
  • Design and facilitate trainings, workshops and support networks to meet the emerging literacy needs from preK - Grade 12;
  • Provide systemic structures necessary for sustainability of literacy initiatives; and
  • Network with universities and national experts to provide districts with high quality training at affordable prices.

Requirements:
The individual hired for this position will possess the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification 317 - Reading Specialist.  Administrative certification 51 - Principal or 10 - Director of Instruction is also preferred.

The individual hired for this position will be expected to demonstrate extensive classroom experience as a Teacher of Reading and the ability to be self-directed as well as professionally collaborative.  Exceptional communication skills and the ability to provide professional development to educational professionals is a must.  Knowledge of the theories and research relative to learning and literacy for both children and adults is also required for this position.

Additional qualifications that are preferred for this position include experience in literacy leadership, at the district level and background in Reading Recovery, Comprehensive Literacy Model, Comprehensive Intervention Model, and/or Literacy Collaborative Model.

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with background, education and experience. Salary is competitive within the area and state. Excellent benefits (benefits for part-time positions are pro-rated).
